How we check listings
Every listing is built by hand from the provider’s own website and public registers. Here is exactly what we check and what our labels mean.
Where listing details come from
- The provider’s own website, for their name, location, the services they offer and the accreditations they state.
- Companies House, for company status.
- Public registers kept by accreditation schemes and trade bodies, where available, to check an accreditation one listing at a time.
We write our own short description of each provider. We don’t copy text, logos or photos from their websites, and we don’t copy other directories’ databases.
What the labels mean
- Accreditation verified
- We have checked the stated accreditation against the scheme’s public register, on the date shown.
- Accreditation stated by provider
- The provider says they hold this accreditation, but we haven’t checked it yet. Always ask to see proof before you book.
- Claimed by owner
- The business has confirmed the listing and can update it.
- Featured · Paid
- The provider pays a monthly fee to appear at the top of the page. Only providers whose accreditation we have verified can be featured. Paying never changes the checks above or the labels we show.
How we order listings
On each report page, listings appear in this order:
- Featured listings (paid placement). Providers pay a monthly fee to appear here, and each one is labelled “Featured · Paid”. There are no more than 3 on a page. If more providers pay for the same page, they take turns at the top each week. On a regional page, a provider is featured only if it has paid for that region or for the whole UK.
- Providers based in or covering the area, in alphabetical order.
- National providers that say they work across the UK, in alphabetical order.
Apart from featured placement, we do not accept payment to change where a provider appears, and we do not rank providers by commission, reviews or how much they use the site. Providers can find out more on our get featured page.
Our own interests
Greenlight Surveyors Ltd also provides some of the services listed on this site. We apply exactly the same rules to our own listing as to everyone else’s, and we will always say where a listing belongs to us.
Corrections and removals
If you run a listed business, you can correct your details, claim your listing or ask for it to be removed at any time on our list your firm page. We act on removal requests within 5 working days.
We don’t guarantee work
Signed Off is a directory. We don’t carry out, supervise or guarantee any of the work listed. Always check a provider’s accreditation, insurance and terms before you book.
