About these reports

Homebuyer survey. A homebuyer survey (RICS Level 2) is the standard survey for a conventional home in reasonable condition.

Building survey. A building survey (RICS Level 3), sometimes still called a structural survey, is the most detailed of the three RICS home survey levels.

Party wall surveyor. If your building work involves a shared wall, digging near a neighbour’s foundations, or building right up to the boundary, the Party Wall Act usually requires you to serve notice on your neighbour.

Damp and timber survey. A damp and timber survey investigates the cause of damp, mould or timber decay in a property, which matters before buying a home, before renovation work, or whenever damp shows up and you need to know what’s actually causing it.

New build snagging survey. A snagging survey is an independent inspection of a newly built or newly converted home, checking the finish and workmanship against the standard it should have been built to, so defects can be put to the developer before or shortly after you move in.

Drone survey. A drone survey uses a small unmanned aircraft (a drone, or UAV) to photograph, film or measure a roof, building or site from the air.
