About these reports

Daylight and sunlight assessment. A daylight and sunlight assessment measures how much natural light a new building or extension would take from neighbouring windows and gardens, and how much light the new rooms themselves would get.

Party wall surveyor. If your building work involves a shared wall, digging near a neighbour’s foundations, or building right up to the boundary, the Party Wall Act usually requires you to serve notice on your neighbour, and a surveyor to produce a party wall award before work can start.

Flood risk assessment. If your site is in or near a flood zone, or is a larger development anywhere, your council will usually ask for a flood risk assessment before granting planning permission, alongside a drainage strategy showing how surface water will be managed.
